Hailing from a family regarded as one of the pioneers into plantations and oil trading who started the first mechanized oil mill in Travancore under the name P JOHN AND SONS which was the sole suppliers to many of the leading oil consumers including TOMCO a TATA concern.

Adv P G PUNNOSE the grand son of the P John born to his eldest son P J GEORGE was always fascinated with nature and on his retirement opted to build a house adjoining the forest cover of their property in Pathanapuram moved from Alleppy and with the advise of a Dutch consultant friend built this bungalow which today is down the legacies and to Mr. Ashok John who is also a keen nature lover who has painstakingly retained this home built to endure times many more to come.

We drive to enter from north to the bungalow situated just off the Punalur - Pathanpuram road around a nook along a mud road cut out leading into plantation.

The cool and inviting interiors are gracious with unique furniture and the spacious rooms offer a feast of antiques, driftwood and old utility pieces done in rose wood and teak.

And as a surprise you will see the largest and rarest collection of bonsai plants in kerala, which the host has collected over years.

A collage of tropical trees like mango, jack fruit canopies the bungalow and the surroundings is fringed with trees like gooseberry, mangos tine, rumbutan, chikoo and fruit bearing creepers like passion fruit. You will find vanilla vines, betel nut and coconut trees filled in little piece of land next to the house. The western side borders the forest as a backdrop to the home.

The court yard and the verandah on the northern side is shaded with flowering creepers.

Accommodation
We offer one suite room on the southern side. The high wooden ceilings good ventilation and the gracious space comfortably accommodate 5 with ease. The second double room is on the northern side, and a third room adjacent to the double is a single with attached bath. The home is well equipped with the facilities for a modern traveler.
