The name "ARIVIKAD" means "Forest of streams". This estate is at an average elevation of 5500 feet MSL. The panoramic scenery of the estate entices a large number of tourists from India and abroad to visit this region. First tea planting was done on West division during the year 1923, Centre division in 1925 and East division in 1937. The factory was built in 1935.
The bungalow was Built in 1937 and is an intresting bungalow laid out with strong lines ,the interiors are Spartan with granite usages for fire places and good wooden floorings.

Gundumallay Estate is one of the largest tea estate in high ranges. The name "Gundu-Mallay" is derived from a huge rock which in Tamil mean Gundu-Mallay, Behind the manager's bunglow in this estate.
